The three stories that inspired the Designer
Firefly
Once upon a time in China, There lived an industrious man named Shain. He loved to study. However, his family was poor and could not buy enough oil for proper lighting. During summer nights, he collected many fireflies, put them in a silk bag, and then went to study. Because he was so industrious, he was promoted to a high-ranking officer.
Snow
Sonkou was industrious, too. His family was also poor. He could not buy enough oil for lighting. On winter nights, he studied by the light of the snow’s reflection. He too was promoted to a high-ranking officer.
Train Station
Japan lost everything in WWII. People did not have enough food, did not have enough electricity. There lived two brothers and a sister, Nobuo, Yasuo, and Kazue. The brothers were very opposite in personality. Yasuo always strived to steal food to help his family. Nobuo loved studying and reading books so that he would help his family and the country in the future, but they did not have enough electricity. He often went to a train station at night to read books under the light of the train station. Kazue loved both of her brothers.
Japan overcame the post war period, and Kazue got two sons. Her sons also loved their uncles, and they are very opposite in personality, too. The elder brother always strives to study and do good jobs, like Nobuo, and the younger brother does not like studying, like Yasuo. However, the younger brother went to Calgary, Canada to study Industrial Design and got a Master's degree in Environmental Design. Now he lives in Japan and dreams about working in Canada as a professional Industrial Designer.
